Five years ago Patricia came on as a volunteer at My Sister’s Closet, social enterprise of BWSS. Patricia is Cree and a member of the As’in’i’wa’chi Ni’yaw Nation. After 17 years of working at various bookstores and non-profits, she was inspired to open her own used bookstore that would also serve as an event space for the community. Massy books is located at 229 East Georgia Street in Vancouver.
Since her days as a volunteer Patricia has worked with BWSS on several fundraisers, including book sales from Massy Books going to BWSS, participating in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge for BWSS, fundraising through a raffle in support of BWSS and other local non-profit organizations.
Patricia is a leader in the community and her love for books, how they heal, empower and transform people’s lives truly shines through in her interactions with community and collaborations. It is beautiful to see that she has stayed true to her values in building her own business. Patricia continues to support local authors in poets understanding the importance of all voices to be heard and read. Stay up to date with all the amazing events happening at Massy Books here.
