International Women’s Day 2020 (IWD) on March 8th is an opportunity for us to celebrate women’s achievements while calling for greater gender equity and an end to gender-based violence.
The global theme this year is “#EachforEqual: An EQUAL World Is An EMPOWERED World” and events will be taking place worldwide throughout the month.
At BWSS we support this campaign and we’re working for equity, justice, and liberation.
Here are three ways you can support and honour the girls, women and femmes this International Women’s Day.
Stronger Together Vancouver: Workout for Women’s Day 2020
We’re happy to be selected by Stronger Together as a receipt of their Workout for Women’s Day fundraiser, on now until March 7th, 2020. Full proceeds from these classes will go to Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS), Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre and Girls Rock Camp Vancouver. Registration for classes is now open now. Check out the schedule to see the classes that studios and trainers across Vancouver will be offering.

Check out what’s in store!
International Women’s Day started in 1911. Although, we have come a long way so much more still needs to be done for gender equity and the elimination of gender-based violence.
For over 40 years BWSS has provided free and confidential services to femmes, trans women, women, girls, Two-Spirit and non-binary people and has worked for social and systemic change all to that end. None of which would be possible without the support of our community. We are so grateful for you, thank you for walking beside us in this work.
Make a donation to BWSS in honour of a loved one to show how much you care, and BWSS will notify them by mailing them a thank you card with a special message.
